To our membership:

In these times of social unrest, we feel that taking an apathetic bystander position is wholly inadequate.    We need to come together as a proud union and clearly state our absolute condemnation of acts of racial inequity and inequality. 

We at AMFA Local 14 want to dedicate ourselves to answering the societal call.  We will not accept any forms of discrimination and will work tirelessly to create a workplace that is tolerant, comfortable, and safe.

We are allies to the oppressed.   

To those members who are themselves part of a marginalized group, AMFA 14 has your back.

When a marginalized group is oppressed, we should all feel pained.  There are few things more hurtful than noticing that someone is apathetic to our pain, quietly standing by watching injustice as it occurs. 

We will not stand by.   

As a group mission statement, AMFA Local 14 will work to support our Black, Brown, LatinX, Indigenous and LGBTQ members in all regards.     

AMFA strives to create a workforce that is strong, diverse, just, and equitable.  We want our members to feel safe in the workplace as well as outside of it.   Everyone comes to the table with differences; this should be seen as our collective strength, not as weakness.  As a group we stand to benefit greatly from utilizing these different perspectives as an asset.  We have the chance to learn from one another and listen to each other, gaining valuable insights and newfound knowledge that would otherwise be difficult to see through our own personal set of biased lenses. 

We would like to take a moment to mourn.   Without taking this time to reflect, we cannot see our own bias and contributions to injustice.

We would like to take an equal moment to thank those of you who have stood up and voiced concerns.  Without your bravery progress cannot be made.
